‘Keep Arsenal Celebrations Out of Church’ — Solomon Buchi

Nigerian writer and media personality Solomon Buchi has stirred reactions online after criticising the manner in which some churches celebrated Arsenal’s Premier League victory.

In a post shared on social media following Arsenal’s league triumph, Buchi stated that football celebrations should not overshadow the purpose of worship gatherings.

“I’m happy for Arsenal but take the celebrations out of church,” he wrote while reacting to videos and reports of church congregations celebrating the club’s title win.

He added, “We can celebrate Arsenal’s victory without bringing it to church in this kind manner.”

The comment quickly sparked debate across social media, with many Nigerians sharing mixed reactions. While some agreed that churches should remain focused on worship activities, others argued that celebrating football victories is harmless and reflects community spirit.

Arsenal recently secured the 2025/26 English Premier League title, ending years of waiting for league success and triggering celebrations among fans worldwide.

Buchi, known for his strong opinions on religion, relationships, and social issues, has frequently generated online conversations through his commentary on trending topics.
