Andre Onana Escapes Injury After Multi Car Crash In Turkey
Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana, currently on loan at Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor, was rushed to a local medical facility on Thursday night following a frightening multi-vehicle road accident near Trabzon.
The incident occurred in the Yomra district along the Black Sea coast as the 30-year-old Cameroonian international and his family were driving home shortly after Trabzonspor’s 2-0 UEFA Conference League victory over Scottish side Hearts, a match in which Onana kept a clean sheet.
According to police and Turkish media reports, the pile-up was triggered when another vehicle travelling at high speed collided with the rear of Onana’s car. The severe impact pushed his vehicle forward into a third car ahead, causing significant wreckage across the road.
Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene, taking Onana and his family members to a nearby hospital for thorough precautionary evaluations, including checks for concussion symptoms and internal trauma often associated with high-velocity traffic collisions.
Addressing public concerns, Trabzonspor President Ertuğrul Doğan issued an official update confirming the crash while offering reassuring news regarding the goalkeeper’s condition. Doğan stated that Onana was in good health and undergoing necessary checks, with medical authorities subsequently discharging both the player and his family after finding no major injuries.
Onana, who joined Manchester United from Inter Milan in 2023 before completing a loan move to Turkey, has been a key fixture for Trabzonspor this season as the club prepares to return to domestic league action.
