Ex-City Manager Mancini Speaks Out on Club’s Financial Controversy

Former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has broken his silence on the financial allegations surrounding his former club, insisting that the ongoing legal controversy is “not my concern.”

Speaking ahead of Italy’s Nations League fixture against Turkey, the Azzurri head coach dismissed claims regarding alleged off-the-books payments and secret compensation agreements during his tenure at the Etihad Stadium between 2009 and 2013.

Reports have long alleged that Mancini received a dual contract, combining a basic salary from Manchester City with a lucrative consultancy fee for advisory work with an Abu Dhabi-based entity controlled by the club’s owners.

Addressing journalists, the Italian tactician maintained that the allegations are neither new nor a personal concern, expressing confidence in the Premier League champions’ innocence. He noted that the matter has been discussed for years and emphasized that Manchester City has not been proven guilty of wrongdoing.

The 61-year-old manager, who famously led Manchester City to their dramatic first Premier League title in 2012, firmly deflected any personal responsibility regarding the financial investigations. He stated that any legal issues or procedural disputes concerning financial disclosures rest entirely between the club and regulatory authorities rather than with him directly.

His comments follow recent public statements from Manchester City Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, who reassured supporters that the club remains resolute and confident in proving its innocence as legal proceedings run their course.
