Our independence is central to our editorial identity. We maintain the distinction between editorial content, sponsored communication, advertising and other forms of commercial engagement. While we provide platforms through which organisations and institutions can communicate with their audiences, such relationships do not determine our independent editorial position.

Our Vision

To be a reliable, trusted and influential digital news source for Delta State, Nigeria and audiences beyond.

Our Mission

To deliver quality media content by publishing reliable news stories, insightful reports and exceptional articles, supported by compelling visual journalism, across our digital and other media platforms.

Our commitment is to:

Accuracy: We strive to publish factual and properly sourced information and to correct significant errors when identified.

Timeliness: We provide timely coverage of breaking developments and issues of public interest while recognising the importance of verification.

Fairness: We seek to present relevant perspectives and provide appropriate opportunities for parties mentioned in reports to respond to allegations or disputed claims.

Independence: Our editorial decisions are guided by journalistic considerations and public interest rather than political, commercial or partisan interests.

Accountability: We take responsibility for the information we publish and value constructive feedback from our readers and stakeholders.

Public Interest: We give attention to issues that affect communities, public institutions, businesses and citizens, particularly within Delta State and Nigeria.

Why Asaba?

The name “Asaba Metro” reflects our strong connection to Asaba, the capital of Delta State and an important political, administrative, commercial and social centre in Nigeria’s South-South region.

Asaba hosts the seat of the Delta State Government, the Delta State House of Assembly, major government institutions, public agencies, businesses, hospitality establishments, educational institutions and other important organisations.

The city’s strategic location along the Niger River and its connection to neighbouring parts of Nigeria have contributed to its growing importance as a commercial and transportation hub.

This strategic position provides Asaba Metro News with a strong local base from which to report developments in Delta State while maintaining a broader national outlook.

Covering Delta State

Delta State is a diverse state in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region, with a rich combination of urban centres, riverine communities, agricultural areas, industrial activities, cultural traditions and natural resources.

Since the creation of the state in 1991, Delta has experienced significant social, economic and infrastructural development across its three senatorial districts.

While Asaba and Warri remain among the state’s major urban centres, Asaba Metro News also recognises the importance of developments in communities and towns across the state, including Effurun, Ughelli, Sapele, Agbor, Abraka, Oghara, Kwale, Ogwashi-Uku, Ozoro, Issele-Uku, Ibusa, Udu and numerous other communities.

Our local reporting is therefore not limited to the state capital. We seek to provide a broad picture of developments across Delta State and give communities a platform through which issues of public interest can receive wider attention.

Connecting Citizens, Institutions and Communities

Asaba Metro News seeks to bridge the information gap between citizens, public authorities, businesses, development partners and communities.

Through our reporting, we provide a platform for government activities and public policies to be communicated to citizens while also providing space for issues affecting citizens and communities to receive public attention.

We also recognise the important role of businesses, civil society organisations, development agencies, professional bodies, community organisations and other stakeholders in Nigeria’s development.

Our platform provides opportunities for credible organisations and institutions to reach relevant audiences through news reports, press releases, interviews, features, visual content, advertising and other media services, subject to applicable editorial and commercial standards.

Digital and Special Publications

Asaba Metro News operates primarily as a digital media platform, distributing content through its website and various digital channels.

In addition to our online publications, Asaba Metro News also produces special-edition hard-copy publications for selected events, campaigns and other relevant occasions.

Our use of text, photography, video and other digital formats enables us to tell stories in ways that reflect the changing habits of modern news audiences.

For Government, Businesses and PR Organisations

Asaba Metro News provides a communication platform for government institutions, public officials, businesses, organisations, development partners and public relations professionals seeking to reach audiences in Delta State and across Nigeria.

We welcome credible news materials, official statements, announcements, event information, expert perspectives and other relevant public-interest content.

However, the publication of a press release or official statement does not necessarily constitute endorsement by Asaba Metro News. Where appropriate, information supplied by third parties is presented as the position or claim of the originating individual or organisation.

Our Audience

Our primary audience includes Residents of Delta State; Deltans living outside the state and abroad; Nigerians across the country; policymakers and public officials; business owners and professionals; civil society and development organisations; researchers, students and academics; media and communications professionals; and readers interested in Nigerian current affairs.

Through our digital platforms, we aim to make Delta State news and important Nigerian developments accessible to audiences wherever they are.

Our Editorial Standard

Asaba Metro News recognises that credibility is earned over time. We therefore continue to strengthen our editorial processes, source verification, headline accuracy, attribution practices, visual journalism and correction procedures as our platform grows.

We understand that readers deserve journalism they can assess, question and trust. Our goal is not simply to publish more stories, but to provide useful, relevant and responsible information that contributes to a better-informed public.
