Chelsea Confirm Successful Knee Surgery for Captain Reece James
Chelsea Football Club has confirmed that team captain Reece James has successfully undergone minor knee surgery following an injury sustained during a recent training session at Cobham.
The 26-year-old defender was omitted from Chelsea’s matchday squad during their 5-1 Premier League victory over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge while medical staff conducted detailed assessments on his right knee.
Following thorough evaluations, specialists determined that a surgical procedure was necessary to resolve the issue.
In an official club statement released on Friday, Chelsea confirmed the procedure was successful:
“Captain Reece James has undergone successful minor knee surgery. Reece has already begun his road to recovery and will be supported by the club’s medical department at Cobham during this rehabilitation phase.”
While Chelsea have not specified an official timeline for his return to competitive action, James has immediately commenced his recovery process under the supervision of the club’s medical team. The injury comes as a setback for Chelsea ahead of their Premier League clash against Everton.
