Favour Agbro Case: Odogwu Asaba Pleads Not Guilty to Rape, Manslaughter
Content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as “Odogwu Asaba,” has pleaded not guilty to rape and manslaughter charges over the death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro.
Ogbonna entered his plea on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, before Justice Michael Nduka Obi of the Delta State High Court sitting in Asaba.
The prosecution team was led by Omamuzo Erebe, SAN, Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Delta State Ministry of Justice, alongside Ugochukwu Okolotu, Principal State Counsel, and Awele Ideal, counsel for the nominal complainant.
Following the proceedings, the prosecution said the court had directed the state to file witness depositions within seven days. The case was adjourned until October 28, 2026, for further proceedings.
The prosecution also acknowledged that Ogbonna remains presumed innocent under the law, with the state expected to present evidence in support of the charges.
According to the allegations, Agbro travelled from Ughelli to Asaba on June 1, 2026, after Ogbonna reportedly offered to train her in content creation. Investigators alleged that he took her to a hotel, where she was subjected to physical and sexual assault.
Ogbonna was arrested in July 2026 and was denied bail on September 15. He was subsequently remanded at the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre following the release of autopsy and toxicology reports relating to Agbro’s death.
The case is expected to resume on October 28, when the prosecution is expected to take further steps towards presenting its witnesses. Ogbonna’s plea does not determine the outcome of the trial, and the allegations remain subject to proof in court.
