Mr Macaroni Opens Up on Why He Stopped Criticising Government

Nigerian skitmaker and social commentator Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has revealed why he stopped speaking publicly about the government.

Mr Macaroni said he became less vocal after receiving what he described as numerous threats, which he said eventually raised concerns about the safety of his family.

“I stopped speaking about the government after receiving numerous thr£ats because my family was no longer safe. My mother would call me in tears, saying there were suspicious movements around the house. It got so bad that they wanted to fly me out.”

According to the entertainer, the situation became particularly worrying when his mother began calling him in distress over movements she considered suspicious around the family home.

He said the pressure eventually led people around him to suggest that he leave the country for his safety, but he chose to remain in Nigeria.

The remarks have resurfaced online following renewed attention to the interview. Mr Macaroni has indicated on X that the interview was recorded more than two years ago.

Despite reducing his direct commentary on government, Mr Macaroni has continued to use his public platform to discuss social and civic issues.
