JAMB Introduces Feature for Candidates to Correct Profile Mismatches Using NIN
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in partnership with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), has activated the online NIN Alignment Service to help candidates correct discrepancies between their examination profile and national identification records.
The self-service feature on the board’s e-Facility portal enables UTME and Direct Entry candidates to harmonize mismatched personal data without visiting physical registration centers.
What Profile Details Can Be Corrected?
The NIN Alignment Service covers four major biodata fields:
- Full Name (fixing spelling errors or name order)
- Date of Birth
- Gender
- State and Local Government Area (LGA) of Origin
Step-by-Step Guide for Candidates
- Update NIMC Database First: Before applying on the JAMB portal, candidates must ensure their details have already been corrected and updated in the official NIMC database.
- Access the Portal: Log in to your personal account on the JAMB e-Facility Portal.
- Select NIN Alignment Service: Click on the dedicated “NIN Alignment Service” tab under the profile services menu.
- Choose Required Fields: Select all the fields requiring correction at once (such as Name and Date of Birth).
- Review and Submit: Carefully cross-check every entry before final submission.
Important Guidelines and Caution
JAMB emphasized that the alignment process is a one-time opportunity. Candidates must select every field that requires adjustment during a single application, as the system will not permit subsequent edit requests.
The board also cautioned that submitting an application does not guarantee automatic approval, as all requests will undergo biometric and database verification between JAMB and NIMC.
