Sentiment Should Not Influence Your Choice, Obi of Abavo Tells Voters, Receives Ogor Tony-Obuh
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Obi of Abavo, His Royal Majesty Uche Irenuwa II, has cautioned voters against allowing tribal, personal, or emotional sentiment to dictate their choice of political leaders at the polls.
The monarch made the declaration on Sunday, October 26, 2026, when he received the Ogor Tony-Obuh Campaign Team on a consultation visit at his palace in Abavo, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Welcoming the delegation, HRM Uche Irenuwa II acknowledged the long-standing family ties between the palace and the campaign team. He commended Mrs. Ogor Tony-Obuh, candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Ika South Constituency seat in the Delta State House of Assembly, describing her as a resilient and courageous leader.
The royal father emphasized that political power is never handed over on a platter of gold, encouraging the campaign organization to remain steadfast, disciplined, and persistent in engaging the electorate.
Addressing the traditional ruler and council of chiefs, Mrs. Ogor Tony-Obuh assured that if elected to the State Assembly in 2027, her representation would deliver equitable development across Ika South without discrimination between Agbor and Abavo.

Also speaking during the visit, Comrade Aigbe David, a resident of Abavo, described the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as a vital platform capable of restoring core democratic ideals to Nigeria and Ika South.
He expressed confidence in the national vision led by Mr. Peter Obi, asserting that Mrs. Tony-Obuh possesses the leadership credentials and character necessary to bring quality representation to the constituency in 2027.
