BREAKING: BEDC Restores Power Supply to Delta State Following NUEE Strike Suspension

Power has been successfully restored across major cities, towns, and commercial centers in Delta State this Wednesday evening, October 21, 2026, bringing an end to the severe blackout triggered by the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) industrial action.

The restoration follows the official announcement by the Management of BEDC Electricity Plc confirming the suspension of the picketing action in Delta, Ondo, and Ekiti states after high-level consultative engagements with union leadership.

Engineers and technical teams from BEDC and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) commenced the progressive re-energization of distribution feeders across Delta State earlier today, with full load restoration achieved across Asaba, Warri, Effurun, Ughelli, and surrounding LGAs by Wednesday evening.

While electricity supply has returned to Delta, Ondo, and Ekiti, BEDC noted that negotiations remain ongoing to resolve outstanding labor issues in Edo State, where the strike action persists.

“Management wishes to reassure customers in Ekiti, Delta and Ondo States that operational recovery efforts are being prioritised to facilitate the safe and progressive restoration of electricity supply to affected communities.”

Residential consumers, hoteliers, healthcare operators, and small business owners across the state have expressed immense relief following the return of grid electricity after days of heavy reliance on expensive diesel generators.
