Ayemidejor Plays Host To Journalists, Says They’re The Gateway To Peace And Development

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Sapele Correspondents’ Chapel on Sunday, May 17, 2020, paid a courtesy visit to the Special Project Director of Asaba International Airport, Hon. Austine Ayemidejor to formally introduce members of the newly constituted Exco of the Union to him.

Speaking on behalf of the Union, the Financial Secretary, Comrade Victor Otuya said that the Union thought it prudent to introduce members of the newly elected Exco to Hon. Austine Ayemidejor being one of the leaders in Sapele local government area.

The Chairman of the Union, Comrade Godwin Oghre thanked the Special Project Director, Hon. Austine Ayemidejor for taking out time to give the members of the Union a treat despite his busy schedule.

Speaking further, he described the Special Project Director as a man with an impeccable character, averring that his humility and media friendliness has always distinguished him from other leaders.

He thanked God for the life of Hon. Austine Ayemidejor, just as he described him as a blessing to the people of Sapele local government area, especially to the people of Igbeku community, and that the Union is glad to be associated with a leader who runs an open door policy, adding that the Union would seek for his advice from time to time as a patron.

The Secretary of the Union, Mr Nelson Agbajor speaking in the same vein, commended Hon. Austine Ayemidejor for his hospitality, while describing him as one of the grand patron of NUJ Sapele Correspondents’ Chapel, also extolled his pragmatic nature in handling of issues, which has set him apart from the crowd.

Mr Akporero Henry, also speaking, added that the Union is always ready to work with Hon. Austine Ayemidejor who doubles as the grand patron of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Sapele Correspondence Chapel, for the good and well being of all.

In his remarks, Hon. Austine Ayemidejor, expressed satisfaction over the visitation by members of the fourth estate of the realm, while saying that he believes that the new exco will do better than their predecessors, describing the media as the gateway to attaining peace and development in any society.

Hon. Austine Ayemidejor also commended members of the press for their efforts in dishing out balance report on happenings in Sapele, while charging them to do more to eradicate falsehood in Sapele and seek to always unveil the truth at all time.

Furthermore, the Special Project Director urged members of the Union to adhere to the ethics of journalism in discharging their duty.

He thanked them for their support and for finding him worthy to be made a grand patron of the NUJ Sapele Correspondents’ Chapel. He also thanked them for their devotion in disseminating information to the door step of the common man and promised to be there for the union whenever the need arises.

Members of the Union who were present during the courtesy visit include; Comrade Hope Akaezue, Vice Chairman, Veteran journalist, Queen Stephanie Ikanone, Assistant Secretary, and Comrade Rita Daniel, Auditor. Others include, Comrade Joe Tobias Amina, Comrade Dorothy Egwe and Comrade Paul Olayemi.
