Tom Holland Confirms Succession Plan for Spider-Man Role

British actor Tom Holland has revealed that Marvel Studios already has a long-term plan to pass the Spider-Man mantle to another actor, saying discussions about the transition have been ongoing since the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021.

Speaking during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Holland said he is excited about helping usher in the next generation of Spider-Man and described the succession plan as one of the aspects of the character’s future he looks forward to the most.

“There’s a whole plan that we have been working on for, I would say, since we finished Spider-Man: No Way Home. It’s laid out. It’s gonna change for sure, but I have a really clear vision to the passing on of the baton, and I think it’s really exciting.”

Holland, who has portrayed Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2016, said he hopes to mentor his eventual successor just as Robert Downey Jr. supported him during his early years in the franchise. He added that he would be happy to help launch the next chapter of Spider-Man, whether it features Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen or another web-slinging hero.

Although Holland has not announced an immediate departure from the role, his comments come as Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives in cinemas, fueling fresh speculation about the future of one of Marvel’s most popular superheroes.
