RMD Reveals Why He Gave His First ₦100 Million to His Wife
Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) has explained why he gave the first ₦100 million he earned to his wife, Jumobi Adegbesan.
The 65-year-old actor shared the story during an interview on The Morayo Show. He described himself as an “incurable romantic” and said gift-giving is his wife’s love language.
According to RMD, the payment was the biggest he had received at the time. Instead of spending it on himself, he instructed his manager to transfer the money directly to his wife’s account.
He said: “The first time I made the biggest money in my life, I told my manager to pay the money into my wife’s account.”
RMD recalled that his wife was shocked after receiving the payment. She immediately asked why he had sent her such a huge amount.
“When she received it, she asked what it was meant for and I told her it was for her.”
The veteran actor said the gesture was his way of appreciating her unwavering support over the years.
According to him, he could have bought a luxury car or gone on vacation. However, he believed the money belonged to the woman who had stood by him throughout his journey.
“Because I had to show her that that was the biggest money I made in my life. I could buy a car or go on holiday but I just said this is the person that made it possible.”
RMD also revealed that he enjoys surprising his wife with gifts. However, he admitted that she has never been overly interested in expensive things.
That, he said, is one of the qualities he admires most about her.
RMD and Jumobi have been married since 2000. Over the years, the award-winning actor has repeatedly described her as one of the biggest influences behind his success in life and his career.
