Portugal’s FC Esmoriz Signs Five Rising Stars from Lagos’ Tonic FC
Portuguese side FC Esmoriz has officially signed five players from Lagos-based Tonic FC, a non-league football club making waves in Nigerian grassroots football.
Tonic FC, founded just six months ago with FC Esmoriz as its parent club, participated in the recently concluded NLO championship, where they narrowly missed promotion.
According to the General Overseer of Tonic FC, Prince Dapo Ajibade, the club was established to discover and nurture young talents from the grassroots.
“Tonic FC is a veritable football factory based in the lovely Ikorodu community of Lagos State. This is just a tip of the iceberg, because we’ve many other young and talented footballers, who would soon join the professional ranks in a not too distant future,” Ajibade said.
Among the players signed is giant young goalkeeper Ayuba Oyetola, who stands at an impressive 6’9 height. The players are expected to travel to Portugal in the coming weeks to continue their careers as professional footballers.
With this development, Tonic FC has once again shown its potential to become a major talent hub for Nigerian football, offering grassroots players opportunities to shine on the international stage.
