Ballon d’Or 2025: Sarina Wiegman Invites Burna Boy to Dance After Award Win
England women’s national team coach, Sarina Wiegman, has added a touch of fun to her historic night at the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris, where she was crowned Women’s Coach of the Year.
After leading the Lionesses to their Euro 2025 victory in Switzerland, England’s first major international trophy abroad Wiegman used her acceptance speech to thank her players, staff, and family. She then lightened the mood with a playful request.
“Let’s celebrate our successes too, and if Burna Boy is around, maybe we could do a little bit of dancing too,” she said, drawing applause from the audience.
Moments later, Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy responded on X (formerly Twitter), writing:
“haha, I’m up for it Sarina! A huge congrats to you and the team #Lionesses.”
The exchange quickly went viral, delighting fans and sparking memories of Wiegman’s fondness for Burna Boy.
Recall that after the Lionesses’ Euro 2025 homecoming parade at Buckingham Palace, Wiegman was treated to a live performance by the Nigerian singer. She has often described him as her favourite artist, making their latest online interaction even more special.
With Burna Boy’s response, fans are now eagerly waiting to see if the dance collaboration between the football coach and Afrobeats star will actually happen.
