MORE Agenda in Isoko: DESOPADEC ED Okpobor Empowers 50 Artisans, Donates Vehicles in Iyede

In a strategic move to take Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E Agenda to the grassroots, the Executive Director of Finance and Administration at DESOPADEC, Chief Oghenekome Okpobor, has empowered 50 fashion designers and emerging entrepreneurs across Isoko North Local Government Area.

At an event held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at his country home in Iyede, Okpobor presented 50 VODI Direct Drive Sewing Machines to beneficiaries drawn from various communities in the council area. To further strengthen grassroots political structure, he also presented two Toyota Sienna vehicles to the APC Executive Committees of Iyede Ward 1 and Ward 2.

Speaking at the presentation, Chief Okpobor stressed that genuine leadership must transcend speeches and deliver direct economic value to families.

“Leadership must have a human face. What we are doing here today is not business as usual; we are investing directly in people, businesses, and family livelihoods,” Okpobor said. “The era of simply handing envelopes to beneficiaries should give way to investing in businesses. If you give someone money today, it may finish, but a productive tool gives them the opportunity to create value and earn repeatedly.”

He credited Governor Oborevwori for providing the enabling platform to execute people-oriented projects, charging the recipients to maximize the tools to support their households and uplift others.

Okpobor disclosed that the exercise marks the first phase of a broader intervention, announcing that subsequent phases will target hairdressers, barbers, welders, and other skilled artisans across Isoko North and Isoko South LGAs.

The event gathered prominent community and political stakeholders, including former Isoko North Council Chairman Chief Philip Adheke, Chief Frank Esiwo Ozue, Barr. Ovie Umukoro, Chief Emmanuel Erezih, Hon. Emmanuel Ogeh, and Isoko North APC Women Leader Mrs. Endurance Ibru.
