FG Introduces USSD Code for Nigerians to Get Loans for Food, Solar
The Federal Government has introduced a USSD-based credit platform that allows Nigerians to access consumer loans using basic mobile phones without internet access.
The platform, known as SPARK, was developed by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP). Nigerians can access the service by dialling *347*333# on their mobile phones.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader consumer credit programme, which covers essential needs such as food, solar panels, smartphones, healthcare, household appliances and mobility solutions.
CREDICORP unveiled SPARK during its CREDICORP for All showcase in Aba, Abia State, where residents were introduced to different consumer credit opportunities.
The corporation said it had facilitated more than ₦53.5 billion in consumer credit for over 351,000 Nigerians, with women accounting for approximately 59 per cent of beneficiaries.
However, details of SPARK’s loan limits, interest rates and repayment conditions have not yet been fully disclosed. Accessing the platform does not automatically guarantee loan approval.
