Oborovwori Remains Undisputed APC Leader in Delta — Ex State Secretary, Otunba Nick declares
By Miracle Enuji
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Otunba Nick Ovuakporie, has reaffirmed Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori as the undisputed leader of the APC in the state.
Ovuakporie, the immediate past state secretary of the party who voluntarily resigned from his position, stated this during an interaction with journalists, where he dismissed speculations of a possible challenge to the governor’s leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to Ovuakporie, Governor Oborevwori has earned the overwhelming support of Deltans through his developmental strides, which will guarantee his re-election in 2027.
“No one can hold His Excellency to the jugular as he remains the leader of the APC in Delta State. Any claims of opposition to his leadership are baseless,” Ovuakporie stressed.

Highlighting his role in the party’s evolution, Ovuakporie emphasized that the APC is built on progressive ideals and not the property of any single individual.
He recalled how Senator Ovie Omo-Agege joined the APC from the Labour Party after the party was already established under the founding leader, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor.
“We gave Omo-Agege leadership support, even influencing his emergence in party primaries. But it is on record that he never supported the APC financially nor rewarded members with contracts despite his influence as Deputy Senate President,” Ovuakporie alleged.
The former APC secretary accused Omo-Agege of betraying party loyalty during the 2023 presidential elections by openly working with the Labour Party.
“The claim that Villa officials blackmailed him before President Bola Tinubu is false. Everyone knows he did not support Tinubu’s emergence as the APC presidential flag bearer and even went into a working pact with Peter Obi. Lies cannot last forever,” Ovuakporie added.
Ovuakporie maintained that without his personal sacrifices, Omo-Agege would not have enjoyed party leadership in Delta.
“I took possession of congress materials, structured the party, and handed it over to him. Unfortunately, he misused the opportunity, creating disaffection within the party instead of uniting it. His leadership style even cost Delta the NDDC Managing Director’s slot,” he lamented.
He insisted that the current APC structure in Delta—from wards to state executives—was his brainchild and called on party members to align with the governor’s leadership.
“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori remains the APC leader in Delta. Anyone who genuinely supports President Tinubu must rally behind him. We will not allow selfish ambitions to distract the governor as we approach 2027,” Ovuakporie declared.
