INEC Starts Physical Voter Registration – Step-by-Step Guide
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the physical phase of its 2025 Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across Nigeria today, Monday, August 25, 2025.
This follows the earlier online pre-registration, which began on August 18, 2025. INEC announced the details of the exercise on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, outlining the schedule, eligibility criteria, and registration centres nationwide.
Step-by-Step Guide to INEC Physical Registration
- Confirm Eligibility
You must be 18 years or older and a Nigerian citizen.
You can also register if you need to replace a lost or damaged PVC, transfer your voting location, or update/correct personal details (name, address, etc.).
- Locate a Registration Centre
Visit the nearest INEC State Headquarters or Local Government Area (LGA) office.
The full list of registration centres is available on INEC’s official portal.
- Visit During Official Hours
Physical registration runs Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Ensure you arrive early, as centres may be busy.
- Provide Required Information
If you pre-registered online, proceed to your state or LGA office to complete biometrics and finalise your application.
New registrants must provide valid identification and personal details.
- Collect or Replace PVC
After completing the process, INEC will issue your Permanent Voter Card (PVC) or replace it if lost/damaged.
- Why It Matters
The 2025 CVR exercise is a crucial opportunity for Nigerians to register, update details, and secure their PVCs ahead of the next general elections. INEC has urged citizens to take advantage of the exercise to ensure full participation in the democratic process.
