Musk Regrets Harsh Attacks on Trump, says ‘They went too Far’
Tech mogul Elon Musk has expressed regret over a series of recent social media posts targeting President Donald Trump, saying they “went too far.”
The admission follows a public clash between the two influential figures, which had sparked fierce political and media attention.
“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” Musk posted on X on Wednesday.
The feud began when Musk, who recently departed from his role at the Department of Government Efficiency, criticized Trump for backing what he called a “big beautiful” spending bill legislation Musk had worked for months to streamline and trim.
Musk’s criticism escalated into serious allegations, including a claim that Trump was named in the Department of Justice’s files related to Jeffrey Epstein.
“Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files,” Musk had written. “That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”
In other posts, Musk suggested that Trump owed his 2020 election victory to his support and accused the former president of “ingratitude.” At one point, Musk even called for Trump’s impeachment and recommended replacing him with Vice President J.D. Vance.
The backlash was swift. President Trump responded on Fox News, saying, “Elon’s totally lost it,” and accused Musk of flipping on the spending bill only after electric vehicle incentives were removed. “He had no problem with the bill until then,” Trump said.
Trump also took to social media, posting, “Elon was ‘wearing thin.’ I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!”
Senator Bernie Sanders, meanwhile, weighed in, saying Democrats should refrain from cooperating with Musk following his outbursts against the president.
Despite the harsh words, tensions have appeared to ease in recent days. Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Monday, “We had a great relationship and I wish him well — very well, actually.”
Musk responded to the clip with a heart emoji, signaling a potential thaw in their icy exchange.
The latest sign of reconciliation came as Musk appeared to support Trump’s stance on recent anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles, sharing the president’s statement without further criticism.
