Elon Musk Claims Instagram Is For Girls
Tech billionaire and world’s richest person, Elon Musk, has reignited his long-running rivalry with Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta, insisting that Instagram is an app designed strictly “for girls”.
Musk made the comment on his social media platform X while responding to venture capitalist account Geiger Capital, which announced it had deleted Instagram after describing it as an “inherently female app” with zero practical benefit for men. Musk replied directly to the post, stating simply: “Instagram is for girls”.
The sharp remark quickly sparked widespread reactions online, drawing mixed responses ranging from supportive X users to critics who labeled the comment unnecessarily gendered and deliberate platform rivalry.
This is not the first time the X owner has taken jabs at Meta’s photo-sharing platform. Musk previously sparked public discussion when he claimed that Instagram negatively impacts mental health and mocked adult men who send him links to their Instagram handles.
Industry watchers note that Musk’s continuous jabs at Instagram come as competition escalates among major social networks for digital ad dollars, creator mindshare, and user engagement across global markets.
