Mulade Hails Okuama Court Victory, Calls for Peace and Reconciliation


Renowned peace ambassador, environmental rights advocate, and development crusader, Chief (Comrade) Sheriff Mulade, PhD, has congratulated the people of Okuama Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State following the recent Federal High Court judgment granting relief to detainees linked to the Okuama military incident.

Mulade described the court’s decision as a significant step towards justice, healing, reconciliation, and the restoration of public confidence in the rule of law.

According to him, the judgment offers renewed hope to affected families and reinforces the importance of due process and fairness in a democratic society.

He commended the judiciary for its commitment to justice and urged residents and stakeholders to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and committed to unity across Delta State.

The peace advocate stressed that sustainable development and economic growth can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and stability.

Mulade specifically appealed to the people of Okuama to embrace reconciliation and peaceful coexistence with neighbouring communities, noting that mutual understanding remains essential for lasting progress.

“Peace is the foundation upon which meaningful development is built. I therefore urge the good people of Okuama and their neighbours to seize this opportunity to deepen reconciliation, promote unity, and work together for the collective advancement of their communities and Delta State at large,” Mulade stated.

He added that the events surrounding the Okuama crisis should serve as a lesson on the importance of dialogue, understanding, and peaceful conflict resolution.

Mulade also called on community leaders, youths, women, and other stakeholders to work together in rebuilding trust and fostering an environment conducive to development and prosperity.

While expressing optimism that the affected communities would emerge stronger through forgiveness and mutual respect, he also urged Deltans to continue supporting Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in delivering on his developmental agenda for the state.
