DESTMA Boss Hails Oborevwori for Approving Recruitment of New Officers

The Director-General of the Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA), Hon. Dr. Benjamin Essien Okiemute NN Rtd., FNIIS, has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for approving the recruitment of new officers into the Authority.

Dr. Okiemute said the recruitment would strengthen DESTMA’s workforce while creating more employment opportunities for Deltans.

He described the approval as a demonstration of the governor’s commitment to improving the economic wellbeing of residents through meaningful employment.

“Only a people-centred Governor would be magnanimous enough to take more Deltans off the streets and engage them gainfully at a time when most parts of the world are thinking of downsizing. This is a testament to the fact that the renewed hope of the MORE Agenda is at work in our state,” Dr. Okiemute stated.

According to him, the recruitment process was designed to ensure fairness and transparency, with applicants required to apply through an online platform.

He disclosed that 6,642 applications were received before the recruitment portal closed after four weeks of registration.

“As of today, we have received 6,642 applications. You would notice that the application site has closed after being open for four weeks. We are currently reviewing all the applications, and soon we will contact those who are to write our screening examination,” he said.

Dr. Okiemute urged applicants to remain patient and rely on official communication from DESTMA for information about the next stage of the exercise.

He also warned applicants against fraudsters who may demand money in exchange for employment slots, stressing that no one has been authorised to sell or allocate positions.

DESTMA has previously warned job seekers that the recruitment process is free and advised applicants to rely on the Authority’s official channels.

The Director-General said only successful applicants who meet the requirements would receive SMS notifications about the screening exercise.

He added that the recruitment was part of DESTMA’s rebranding and repositioning efforts to build a more efficient, disciplined and professional workforce.

“The Delta State Traffic Management Authority is committed to getting the very best as part of our rebranding initiative. We want people who are ready to work, people who understand the responsibility that comes with wearing the DESTMA uniform and who are willing to serve the people of Delta State professionally,” he added.

Dr. Okiemute also thanked the applicants for their interest in joining the Authority, saying the large number of applications reflected confidence in DESTMA’s vision.

“I want to thank all those who have applied and are ready to work. This shows that you believe in the vision of DESTMA,” he said.

As the Authority reviews the applications, applicants have been advised to await official communication and avoid anyone claiming to have access to recruitment slots or guaranteed employment.
