Delta SUBEB Orders Mandatory Staff Verification, Certificate Screening Across 25 LGAs
The Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has announced a compulsory physical staff verification and certificate screening exercise for all teaching and non-teaching staff under the 25 Local Government Education Authorities in the state.
According to a circular signed by Byron A. Unini, Permanent Secretary of SUBEB, the exercise will begin on Thursday, September 18, 2025, with specific dates and times for each local government to be communicated in due course.
The verification committee, constituted by SUBEB, will require staff members to present key documents including;
Letter of first appointment
Letter of confirmation of appointment
Letter of last promotion
Birth certificate or affidavit of age declaration
Local Government Area identification letter
First School Leaving Certificate/Primary Six master list
WAEC, NCE, OND, HND, Degree, and NYSC certificates (where applicable)
The circular warned that any staff who fails to appear before the committee will be assumed to have absconded from duty and treated accordingly.
SUBEB directed all Education Secretaries to ensure the exercise is widely publicized and that staff comply fully.
The screening exercise is part of the board’s efforts to sanitize the system, ensure authenticity of staff records, and strengthen accountability in Delta State’s basic education sector.
