Delta Govt Warns Nursing School Applicants Over Fake HND Admission Messages
The Delta State Government has warned prospective students seeking admission into the state-owned Colleges of Nursing Sciences against fraudulent text messages offering admission into purported Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes.
The warning was contained in a special announcement issued by the Delta State Ministry of Health following reports and enquiries from members of the public concerning fake admission messages being circulated to prospective students.
In a statement signed by Mrs. Stella Macaulay, Director, Public Communication/Functioning Permanent Secretary, Delta State Ministry of Health, the Ministry specifically disowned messages reportedly originating from telephone numbers 08146382224 and 08135875941, describing them as fraudulent and stressing that they did not emanate from the Delta State Ministry of Health or any of its institutions.
The affected state-owned Colleges of Nursing Sciences are located in Eku, Agbor, Warri, Sapele and Asaba.
The Ministry urged prospective students and members of the public to disregard the messages and refrain from making payments, submitting personal information or engaging in any transaction based on their contents.
How Delta Nursing School Admissions Are Conducted
For the avoidance of doubt, the Ministry said admission into the state-owned Colleges of Nursing Sciences is conducted strictly in accordance with approved procedures of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
It added that screening and other admission processes are handled by the respective colleges in line with established guidelines.
The clarification was considered necessary following reports of admission communications allegedly being circulated by private entities, which the Ministry said could create the false impression of an official relationship with the state government.
Delta Govt Disowns Private Nursing Admission Arrangements
The Ministry also clarified that it has no affiliation, partnership, supervisory role or admission arrangement with any private nursing institution regarding admissions.
It warned that any admission offer, communication or representation made by a private institution should not be interpreted as having the endorsement or approval of the Delta State Ministry of Health.
Applicants were therefore advised to rely only on information released through the official communication channels of the Ministry of Health and the respective state-owned Colleges of Nursing Sciences.
The Ministry further stated that it would not be held liable for any loss, inconvenience or consequences arising from dealings with unauthorised persons, organisations or fraudulent admission messages.
