Bayern Confirm Eric Dier’s Departure at End of Season
Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, has confirmed that English centre-back Eric Dier will leave the club at the end of the season.
Dier’s contract expires on June 30, and despite talks about a potential extension, he has decided not to stay.
“We’ve had talks with Eric about a potential contract extension,” Freund said. “He told us that he won’t extend his time with Bayern and that he’ll leave the club at the end of the season.”
Although Dier’s departure is confirmed, Bayern are still in discussions to temporarily extend his contract to cover the upcoming Club World Cup in the United States.
The 31-year-old England international has been a key player for Bayern, stepping in to cover injuries to central defenders Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano.
“We’ve had a great time with Eric, and I hope he’ll crown his time with Bayern with a title,” Freund added.
Reports suggest that Dier is set to join Monaco on a deal that will run through to the summer of 2027.
Dier initially joined Bayern on loan in January 2024 before sealing a full transfer in the summer on a one-year deal.
