Air Peace Offers 25% Discount Over Delayed Lagos-Enugu Flight

Air Peace has offered lawyer and human rights activist Inibehe Effiong a 25 per cent discount on a one-way ticket on its domestic routes as compensation for the delayed Lagos-Enugu flight.

Effiong disclosed the development on Wednesday after receiving an email from Air Peace’s call centre, which apologised for the disruption of flight P47100 scheduled from Lagos to Enugu on September 21, 2026.

According to the airline, the discounted ticket, excluding taxes, will be valid for six months from the date of the email, except between December 15, 2026 and January 15, 2027.

“To claim the ticket, please send an email to [email protected] with your old booking reference, scanned copy of your travel passport, and details of your new flight itinerary (route, date and time),” the airline stated.

The compensation followed a directive from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) after its preliminary investigation found that passengers had received an incorrect notification ahead of the flight. The service was scheduled to depart Lagos at 6:45am but was eventually delayed until 4:50pm.

Effiong had said he arrived at Terminal One of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, at about 5:50am for the flight and was later informed of the delay. He said the disruption caused him to miss a scheduled court appearance in Enugu State.

Reacting to the offer, Effiong said the gesture did not address what he described as the airline’s recurring poor service culture.

“This modest effort by Air Peace to assuage me and other aggrieved passengers should not detract from the fundamental issue, namely: the perennial lackluster, arrogant and frustrating attitude of the company,” he said.

He also commended the NCAA’s response while calling for stronger measures to protect air passengers.

“While the swift response of Mike Achimugu and NCAA in this case are commendable, there is no doubt that we need a stiffer and stronger regulatory framework in the aviation industry to protect the rights of air passengers,” he said.

The NCAA had earlier directed Air Peace to compensate affected passengers in line with Part 19 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023. The regulator said timely and accurate communication was part of airlines’ obligations to passengers during disruptions.
