Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested six suspects across multiple anti-crime operations targeting armed robbery, attempted murder, home invasion, and violent theft in various parts of the state.
The breakthroughs, executed between October 11 and October 12, 2026, by police divisions in Orerokpe, Agbor, and Otu-Jeremi, led to the recovery of three locally made cut-to-size firearms, live ammunition, edge weapons, a hijacked tricycle, and stolen items linked to bank transfer extortion rings.
The achievements were detailed in an official press release issued on Thursday, October 15, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe.
1. Tricycle-Riding Extortion & Abduction Gang Busted in Osubi
On October 11, 2026, police operatives attached to the Orerokpe Division, working on intelligence supplied by the Civilian Anti-Cult Group in Osubi, joined forces with local vigilantes to trail a criminal syndicate using a commercial tricycle for armed robbery and abductions along Osubi Road.
The team intercepted the operational tricycle—bearing registration number BDG 429 QN—and arrested two suspects: Musa Haruna (‘m’, 22) and Mubarack Abdulahi (‘m’, 20).
A search of the tricycle led to the recovery of one (1) locally made cut-to-size double-barrelled shotgun, seven (7) live cartridges, and one (1) jackknife
Preliminary police investigations revealed that the duo belongs to a syndicate that picks up unsuspecting commuters, holds them at gunpoint inside the tricycle, and forcibly compels them to transfer funds from their bank accounts. Manhunt operations are active to track down fleeing members of the gang.
2. Suspect Arrested for Stabbing Woman During Failed Robbery in Agbor
On October 12, 2026, operatives from the Agbor Division responded to a distress call reporting an ongoing violent attack at Alifekede Village.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers apprehended Paul Francis (‘m’, 25), who had attempted to rob a woman. During the encounter, the suspect stabbed the victim in the forehead with a knife, inflicting serious injuries.
Police recovered One (1) locally made cut-to-size gun and one (1) kitchen knife
The injured victim was rushed to a medical facility, where she is currently receiving treatment and responding to care. The suspect remains in custody while further investigations are conducted.
3. POS Theft and ₦2 Million Stolen in Okwagbe: Three Arrested in Otu-Jeremi
In another operation on October 12, 2026, operatives from the Otu-Jeremi Division investigated a reported break-in and theft that occurred on October 10 at Okwagbe Waterside Community.
The victim reported that her residence was broken into, with a Point-of-Sale (POS) machine, an Infinix mobile phone, and ₦2,000,000 in cash stolen.
Tracking intelligence led police to the residence of Bruno Jonathan (‘m’). A search of his home led to the recovery of one (1) locally made cut-to-size gun and one (1) live cartridge.
Follow-up investigations led to the arrest of two female accomplices, Merit Solomon (‘f’) and Edna Iboyi (‘f’). All three suspects are currently detained as detectives work to determine their specific roles in the burglary and illegal firearm possession.
Reacting to the successful operations, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel Erale, commended the field operatives, community vigilantes, and civilian anti-cult groups for their intelligence sharing and swift tactical execution.
CP Erale reiterated the Command’s commitment to dismantling organized crime networks, confiscating illegal weapons, and ensuring that perpetrators of violent crimes face the full extent of the law.
