JAMB Clears Confusion Over ‘Not Admitted’, ‘Admission in Progress’

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has explained the meaning of the “Not Admitted” and “Admission in Progress” statuses displayed on candidates’ Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

In an explainer released on Thursday, September 17, JAMB said “Not Admitted” simply means that a candidate has not yet been offered admission.

The board stressed that the status does not necessarily mean the candidate will not be admitted and advised affected candidates to continue checking their CAPS for updates.

JAMB explained that “Admission in Progress” means an institution may have proposed the candidate for admission, but the process has not yet been completed.

Candidates with the status were also advised to keep monitoring their CAPS as the admission process continues.

The clarification comes amid concerns from candidates about changes in their admission statuses, including cases where some reported seeing their status move from “Admission in Progress” to “Not Admitted.”
