The leadership of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council has rolled out plans to celebrate this year’s Press Week scheduled for the 7th – 12th of December 2017 announcing that the event will feature various varieties including a Public Lecture, Investitures, Award Ceremony, Gala Nite and others.
Chairman of the State Council, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu disclosed this at a Press Conference in Asaba hinting that the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Zanna Ibrahim, Hon. Eta Enahoro amongst other high profile individuals in Delta State will be honoured with distinguishing awards which will also go along side Investitures of Patrons for the Union.
He further stated that the event which will feature an Annual Lecture will have foremost activist and human right advocate, Mrs. Joe Okei-Odumakin speaking on the theme of the Press Week, “The Role Of The Press In Managing The Lessons Of Recession For a Wealthier Delta State”.
Activities billed for 2017 Delta State NUJ Press Week include, Sensitization Campaign, Visit to Sick members of the Union, Novelty Football Match, Public Lecture and Gala Nite which will feature presentation of Awards and Investiture of Patrons.
The grand finale of the Press Week which will take place at NLC Labour House, Asaba will be chaired by the immediate past Delta State Commissioner for Information, Barr. Chike Ogeah and will have His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as Special Guest of Honour, Deputy Governor, Barr Kingsley Otuaro as Guest of Honour, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and Secretary to the State Government, Hon Festus Agas as Special guests.
The number one journalist in the Country, Comrade Waheed Odusile and the Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah will be the Chief Hosts, while the State Chairman of the Union, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu alongside his lieutenants will Host the ceremony.
