Edo Gov Okpebholo Says He Started Casting Out Demons at 17

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has opened up about his early involvement in Christian ministry, revealing that he began “casting out demons” as a teenager at the age of 17.

Speaking during a recent church service at The VOTAGE Church in Benin City, Governor Okpebholo stated that seeing young people active in church reminded him of his own spiritual journey during his youth.

Addressing the congregation, the governor explained that confronting spiritual battles as a teenager shaped his stance on governance, safety, and law enforcement today. He emphasized that his long-standing background in spiritual warfare has prepared him to tackle insecurity and cultism in Edo State head-on.

“When I see young ones standing in the presence of God, I remember that at the age of 17 or 18, I had already started casting out demons,” Okpebholo said. “So fighting insecurity, especially cultism, is not a new thing to me. It is something that has been happening.” 

The governor, who also paid tribute to the legacy of the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa, reassured residents that his administration remains firm in its commitment to restoring peace, security, and development across the state.
