DOPF 2026 Conference: Asaba Set for Major Democracy Dialogue

Online publishers, journalists, security chiefs, and key political stakeholders are set to gather in Asaba, the Delta State capital, for the Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) 2026 Annual Conference and 6th Lecture Series.

The high-level gathering is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at David’s Event Centre, GRA, Asaba, starting at 11:00 a.m. prompt. It aims to deliver a robust national platform to examine democratic stability, election integrity, security challenges, and the evolving responsibilities of the media across Nigeria.

In a joint statement, Planning Committee Chairman Dn. Chijioke Williams Ugbolue and Secretary Comrade Josephine Omodior stated that the theme, “Democracy Under Pressure: Electoral Integrity, Security Challenges and Media Accountability in Nigeria,” was intentionally chosen to drive constructive national engagement on safeguarding democratic governance.

The conference will address the structural pressures confronting democratic institutions, the credibility of electoral processes, strategies to counter fake news, and the physical safety of field journalists in an increasingly complex digital landscape.

Organisers revealed that arrangements are already in top gear to make the 2026 edition the largest assembly of digital media practitioners in Delta State. Participation is expected from executive government officials, political leaders, state legislators, academics, captains of industry, representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and security agencies including the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, and the Department of State Services (DSS).

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, is scheduled to grace the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour. A distinguished politician and veteran media professional will chair the event, while a prominent academician has been secured to deliver the 6th Annual Distinguished Guest Lecture.
