Tems, Ayra Starr Join Hollywood Cast of Children of Blood and Bone

Nigerian music stars Tems and Ayra Starr are set to make appearances in the highly anticipated Hollywood fantasy film Children of Blood and Bone, joining an acclaimed cast led by Thuso Mbedu, Idris Elba, Viola Davis, Cynthia Erivo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Regina King, Damson Idris, Amandla Stenberg, and Richard Mofe-Damijo.

The film, directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, is based on Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel of the same name. Set in the mythical kingdom of Orïsha, the story follows Zélie Adebola on a quest to restore magic and challenge a tyrannical regime. Paramount Pictures is scheduled to release the film in cinemas on January 15, 2027.

Ayra Starr was officially announced as part of the cast in 2025, marking one of her first major Hollywood acting roles, while Tems also features in the production as the film continues to spotlight African talent on the global stage.

The adaptation has generated significant excitement for its predominantly Black cast and its celebration of African mythology, with fans eagerly awaiting its theatrical release.
