Oborevwori Charges New DELSU Council on Academic Excellence
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has charged newly inaugurated members of the Governing Council of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, to serve with integrity, diligence and commitment, as the institution pushes to remain a leading centre of academic excellence.
Oborevwori gave the charge during the inauguration of Rt. Hon. Festus Agas, Rt. Hon. Frank Enekorogha and Mr. Charles Ajuyah, SAN, as members of the university’s Governing Council.
Describing the ceremony as important despite his tight schedule, the governor said the council remains critical to the governance of universities through policy direction and oversight.
“The Governing Council remains central to the effective governance of any university, providing policy direction and ensuring that institutional goals are achieved,” the governor said.
He added that his administration has consistently appointed individuals of integrity and distinction into tertiary institution councils across the state, stressing that the three appointees were well qualified based on their public service and leadership records.
Oborevwori further reminded the new members of the weight of their responsibilities, saying: “As members of the Governing Council, you carry the aspirations of thousands of students, staff, alumni and the entire people of Delta State. Your decisions will shape policies, influence academic direction and define the future of this great university for generations to come”.
Responding on behalf of the inaugurated members, Rt. Hon. Festus Agas thanked the governor and promised that the council would work closely with the Vice-Chancellor and management to strengthen the institution.
“We thank the Governor for the confidence reposed in us. We will serve with dedication, loyalty and integrity,” Agas said.
