I’m Against Bad Governance, Not Driven by 2027 Ambition – Obi
The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) and former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has stated that his participation in a coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections is rooted in a commitment to tackling bad governance, hunger, and poverty, not personal political ambition.
Obi stated this in response to a question from VANGUARD concerning reports of an alleged agreement between him and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, in which Obi would serve as Atiku’s running mate in 2027. The same report also claimed that Atiku had committed to a single term and was willing to formalize the pact in writing.
Speaking at an event in Kubwa, where he donated to a school and hospital project spearheaded by the Anglican Church, Obi did not confirm or deny the reported agreement. Instead, he redirected focus to the broader purpose of his political engagement.
“You can make of the report what you want, but I’m in a coalition against bad governance, hunger, and poverty,” Obi stated.
