Delta Govt Announces April 25 Sanitation Exercise, Restricts Movement
The Delta State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for April 2026 will hold on Saturday, April 25, across the state.
According to the government, the exercise will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., during which restrictions will be placed on human and vehicular movement to ensure full compliance.
Residents have been advised to clean their surroundings, clear overgrown weeds, desilt drainage systems, and maintain proper sanitation within a 20-metre radius of their premises.
Authorities stressed that the exercise is crucial in preventing the spread of diseases and promoting public health, noting that environmental sanitation remains a collective responsibility.
The State Commissioner for Environment, Jamani Ejiro, is expected to lead monitoring efforts alongside ministry officials and other relevant agencies.
Defaulters, the government warned, will be apprehended, prosecuted before Mobile Magistrate Courts, and fined accordingly.
Residents are therefore urged to comply fully with the directive to ensure a cleaner, safer, and healthier Delta State.
