Delta Police Arrest Four Suspects Linked to Effurun Gun Case

The Delta State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a gun-running syndicate linked to the recovery of a Beretta pistol in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, in May 2026.

The arrests followed an intensive investigation launched after the firearm was recovered at a motor park in Effurun on May 1.

According to the Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, operatives tracked and arrested the suspects across Bayelsa and Imo states through intelligence-led operations.

The suspects were identified as Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Clifford Boleyelefa, Amadi Princewill, and Amadi Felix Chibuike.

Police investigations revealed that Emmanuel Chukwuemeka was arrested in Bayelsa on May 4 alongside his roommate, whose phone was allegedly used to facilitate the purchase of the firearm.

During interrogation, Emmanuel reportedly confessed that he bought the pistol from Amadi Princewill for ₦290,000 and later sold it to a suspect identified as Desmond, who is currently at large, for ₦380,000.

Investigators said Desmond subsequently arranged for the weapon to be transported to Effurun and allegedly contacted the late Oghenemine Ogidi to collect it for delivery to Sapele.

Following Emmanuel’s confession, operatives tracked and arrested Amadi Princewill in Imo State on May 15. Further interrogation led to the arrest of Amadi Felix Chibuike in Owerri on May 16 after Princewill allegedly disclosed that he purchased the firearm from him for ₦200,000.

The police said all the suspects are believed to be members of the Black Axe confraternity.

CP Oyeniyi disclosed that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate, including the fleeing suspect, Desmond.

The arrests represent another breakthrough in the command’s efforts to curb illegal arms trafficking and strengthen security across Delta State.
