Delta Police Bust Fake Dollar Syndicate in Asaba, Arrest Two Female Drug Dealers in Major Crackdown

The Delta State Police Command has intensified its war against crime, arresting members of a suspected counterfeit currency syndicate and two alleged drug traffickers in separate intelligence-driven operations across the state.

The coordinated operations led to the recovery of 1,600 counterfeit United States dollar bills, military camouflage uniforms, and large quantities of suspected hard drugs, further underscoring the Command’s determination to dismantle criminal networks operating within Delta State.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed that operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU) acted on credible intelligence on June 9, 2026, and placed under surveillance a five-man gang allegedly involved in defrauding unsuspecting victims using fake United States dollar notes.

According to Edafe, the suspects were tracked while operating in a red, unregistered Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV and were eventually arrested along Nnebisi Road in Asaba.

The suspects were identified as Joshua Nwaosa, Daniel Arhewe, Prince Chukwuma, and John Egwuba.

“During preliminary interrogation, the suspects confessed to operating from a hideout in Asaba,” Edafe revealed.

Acting on the information provided, police operatives raided the hideout where they recovered 1,600 counterfeit dollar bills and military camouflage concealed within the premises.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the full scope of the syndicate’s operations and apprehend other members believed to be involved in the criminal enterprise.

In a separate operation on the same day, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) stormed Owa-alero and Alihame communities in Ika North-East and South Local Government Areas following actionable intelligence on suspected drug trafficking activities.

The operation resulted in the arrest of two female suspects identified as Ifeoma Egbule, 36, and Anayeokwu Florence, 51.

Police recovered substantial quantities of suspected illicit substances, including GH Gold, Colorado, Cannabis, and Canadian Loud from the suspects.

“The exhibits were recovered and taken into custody alongside the suspects,” Edafe stated.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were actively engaged in the distribution of the prohibited substances within the area, while efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the drug distribution network.

Commending the officers involved in the successful operations, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, praised their professionalism, vigilance, and dedication to duty.

The police boss reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling criminal syndicates, combating drug trafficking, and ensuring the safety of residents across Delta State.

He also called on members of the public to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with credible information capable of aiding the fight against crime and criminality in the state.
