Delta Police Rescue Kidnap Victim Without Ransom, Arrest Suspected Robbers and Drug Dealer

The Delta State Police Command has recorded fresh breakthroughs in its ongoing crackdown on crime, successfully rescuing a kidnap victim without payment of ransom, arresting three suspected armed robbers, and recovering hard drugs in separate intelligence-led operations across the state.

The operations underscore the Command’s intensified efforts to combat kidnapping, armed robbery, cult-related activities, and illicit drug trafficking in Delta State.

Operatives of the Command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad (SAKU) rescued a kidnap victim unharmed following a coordinated operation driven by actionable intelligence.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed that the rescue followed a report received on June 11, 2026, concerning the abduction of a male victim by armed men in Okpanam on June 10.

Acting swiftly, operatives launched a strategic manhunt supported by intelligence gathering and operational deployment aimed at tracking down the kidnappers and securing the victim’s release.

According to the police, sustained pressure mounted on the abductors forced them to abandon the victim at their hideout and flee the scene.

The victim was rescued safely, debriefed, and reunited with his family without any ransom payment.

The Command said efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest the fleeing suspects.

In another operation, operatives attached to the Distress 01 Patrol Team of the Department of Operations arrested three suspected armed robbers during a routine motorised patrol in Asaba.

The operation, which took place on June 12, 2026, at about 12:30 p.m., led to the interception of a commercial tricycle carrying three occupants.

A search conducted on the suspects resulted in the recovery of one locally fabricated Beretta pistol.

The suspects were identified as Ewendeze De-Grace (19), Eruweghene Amede (20), and Chukwuemeka Arinze (21).

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are allegedly members of the Aro Bagger Confraternity.

Police confirmed that both the suspects and the recovered firearm remain in custody while investigations continue.

In a separate intelligence-led raid targeting drug-related crime, operatives of the Kwale Division stormed a suspected drug distribution point in Kwale on June 10.

Upon sighting the police team, two male suspects reportedly escaped while one female suspect identified as Ananyi Vivian, aged 45, was arrested.

Police said preliminary findings indicated that the location was being used for illegal drug distribution activities.

During interrogation, the suspect allegedly admitted knowledge of the illicit operations taking place at the premises.

Investigators are currently working to apprehend the fleeing suspects and dismantle the wider network connected to the operation.

Commending officers involved in the operations, Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, praised their professionalism, vigilance, and dedication.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining aggressive intelligence-led policing across Delta State and called on residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information.

The Police Command assured residents that all lawful measures would continue to be deployed to keep communities safe and secure.
