Delta Govt Warns Developers Against Encroachment on Kwale Free Trade Zone Land
…Orders Immediate Removal of Illegal Structures.
The Delta State Government has issued a strong warning to property developers and land speculators encroaching on the areas designated for the Kwale Free Trade Zone (KFTZ), stressing that any illegal occupation threatens the long-term vision and economic prospects of the project.
In an official statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu, the government announced that the State Taskforce on Recovery of Government Lands has been fully empowered to enforce the protection of the project boundaries and immediately remove all unauthorized structures, regardless of their level of completion.
According to Dr. Emu, the KFTZ has recently attracted renewed interest from local and international investors, making it imperative for government to secure the land and prevent activities capable of undermining development plans.
“Property developers around the Kwale Free Trade Zone are advised to refrain from further encroachment on the land earmarked for the project. The Taskforce is mandated to recover the land and remove all illegal structures without delay,” the statement noted.
The SSG added that the government reserves the right to pursue additional legal remedies against violators whose actions jeopardize the state’s development agenda, assuring that enforcement will be carried out strictly within the law.
Dr. Emu further extended the warning to individuals and groups occupying other government-owned lands, urging them to vacate immediately or face decisive action.
“The government will not tolerate illegalities that threaten the common good of Deltans. Anyone encroaching on government property should vacate such lands at once,” he emphasized.
The Kwale Free Trade Zone project is one of the state’s major strategic economic initiatives aimed at boosting industrialization, creating employment opportunities, and enhancing foreign direct investment.
