British Student Nurse Fatally Stabbed in Texas, Roommate Charged with Murder
A man has been charged with murder following the death of a 23-year-old British student nurse, Elizabeth Odunsi, who was found stabbed multiple times in a Houston apartment just days before she was due to graduate.
Odunsi, originally from London and known affectionately as Tami to friends and family, was discovered on the kitchen floor of a residence on Goforth Street, Houston, on 26 April, according to Houston Police.
Authorities have charged her roommate, 40-year-old Chester Lamar Grant, who was found at the scene with at least one stab wound and taken to hospital in critical condition. He was later arrested and formally charged with her murder.
Detectives responded to the apartment above a complex after being called for a welfare check. When officers received no response at the door, they entered the property and found Odunsi’s body. Grant was discovered injured in a bedroom.
Describing the young woman as a “beautiful soul,” her family is now working to bring her body back to the UK. An online fundraiser for her repatriation and funeral has raised more than £65,000.
Organisers of the appeal said they wanted to “give her the peaceful and dignified farewell she deserves.”
Odunsi had built a following of over 45,000 on TikTok under the name Tami Dollars, where she shared moments from her life as a nursing student.
