Breaking News: I Remain Chairman Of Burutu Local Government Area – Hon Ebikeme Clark


Ebikeme Clark has stated that he remains the Chairman of Burutu Local Government Area despite report of his impeachment by the Councillors in the Council.

In his words; “I remain Chairman of Burutu local government area. Only the Delta State House of Assembly that I respect so much can remove me from office. Despite the current challenges, I am not owing councillors and workers in Burutu Local Government Area

There are people who just want to make it overnight without considering the interest of the electorate. I remain resolute in doing the right thing. I will ensure that government money is use for government business and not to be shared. No matter the intimidation and blackmail, I will not derail, even to the very last day of my tenure” – Hon Ebikeme Clark, Chairman, Burutu Local Government area of Delta State.

It will be noted that in the early hours of Tuesday September 3, 2017, a motion for a vote of no confidence and notice of impeachment on Hon Ebikeme Clark was moved by the Councillor representing Okpokunou Ward 7 in the Burutu Local  Government Legislative Arm, Honourable Churchill Botu and seconded by Honourable Richard Asiyae and unanimously adopted at plenary presided over by the Leader of the Legislative Arm Honourable Felix Kemapade.

The motion titled “a motion of vote of no confidence and impeachment on the Council Chairman Honourable Ebikeme Clark was” duly signed by over two third majority of the councillors.

The motion further read “The House has observed the abuse of office by the Council Chairman Honourable Ebikeme Clark, also is the misconduct and mismanagement of council funds including non adherence of due process in his dealings”.

Also an part of the motion, the House resolved to freeze the Burutu Local Government Council account domiciled with Zenith Bank PLC at Ogunu road in Warri to stop further mismanagement of council funds.

However, the embattled LGA chairman has stated in clear terms that he remains the council boss stressing that it is only the Delta State House of Assembly that can remove him from office.
