Breaking: Benue Assembly Suspends Ex-Speaker Aondona Dajoh for Alleged Impeachment Plot
The Benue State House of Assembly has suspended its immediate past Speaker, Aondona Dajoh, for three months following allegations that he attempted to plot the impeachment of Governor Hyacinth Alia.
The suspension was announced during Tuesday’s plenary session after a motion was moved by Terna Shimawua (Kyan Constituency) and seconded by James Umoru (Apa Constituency).
Notably, Shimawua was one of the lawmakers suspended by Dajoh last week Friday, just before Dajoh resigned as Speaker.
Presiding Speaker Alfred Berger upheld the motion against Dajoh but reduced the suspension period from six months to three months. The decision was taken without the usual voting procedure, underscoring the tense political atmosphere in the Assembly.
This development adds a new twist to the unfolding political drama in Benue, coming only days after Dajoh’s controversial resignation as Speaker.
