BREAKING: Anambra Lawmaker Suspended for 3 Months Over Social Media Claims
The Anambra State House of Assembly has suspended Hon. Bernard Udemezue, the member representing Ayamelum Constituency, for three months following his social media posts on constituency allowance.
Udemezue, elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alleged in his posts that his constituency was being marginalised in the distribution of constituency allowances. The Assembly described the content as “damaging”.
The matter was first raised during plenary last Tuesday after Tony Muobike (Aguata 2 Constituency) moved a motion of urgent public importance, seconded by Chief Whip Jude Ngobili (Ihiala 1 Constituency).
Speaker Somtochukwu Udeze, who presided over the session, referred the issue to the House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics, and Privileges for investigation.
At Tuesday’s plenary, the committee presented its findings, and the House passed a resolution to suspend Udemezue for three months.
