Paul Pogba Eligible to Return to Football After 18-Month Doping Ban
Former France midfielder Paul Pogba is now free to resume his football career after serving an 18-month doping ban.
The 91-times capped midfielder stated this after the appeal process was concluded.
Pogba’s ban, initially four years, was reduced on appeal. He attributed the positive test to a food supplement prescribed by a US-based doctor.
“I can finally turn the page on this extremely painful period,” Pogba said after the appeal process concluded.
According to the player, he has been training intensively, with his entourage claiming he is “training at 1,000 percent” and “in good spirits.” Pogba has also received offers from various clubs, according to his representative.
One potential suitor is Inter Miami, where Pogba has been working on his fitness with the team’s fitness coach, who also trains Lionel Messi. Pogba attended one of Inter’s matches in February and has been sharing updates on his training sessions with his 62.7 million Instagram followers.
French club Marseille has also expressed interest, with football director Medhi Benatia having played alongside Pogba at Juventus. However, Marseille may be cautious due to Pogba’s uncertain form after a long absence.
Pogba’s ultimate goal is to play in the 2026 World Cup, but he must first convince France coach Didier Deschamps. The player is in regular contact with Deschamps, who serves as one of his advisors for sporting decisions.
A contract, Pogba admitted, “doesn’t depend on me, but on a lot of other things.” In January, he revealed on social media that he had received “proposals, not very interesting stuff.”
