US Launches FIFA PASS Visa for 2026 World Cup Ticket Holders

The United States has launched a new priority visa appointment system called FIFA PASS to help 2026 FIFA World Cup ticket holders access earlier visa interview slots, facilitating travel to the tournament set to kick off on June 11, 2026.

Under the FIFA Priority Appointment Scheduling System (FIFA PASS), confirmed ticket holders travelling to the U.S. for matches can opt in for prioritised visa interview appointments at U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide, aiming to reduce long wait times in countries with limited appointment availability.

The system, which began rolling out on January 20, 2026, is voluntary and designed to assist fans whose normal visa interview slots could fall after the tournament’s start, a concern for supporters in many countries.

However, U.S. and FIFA officials have made it clear that having a FIFA PASS appointment does not guarantee a visa will be issued. All applicants must still meet standard eligibility criteria, undergo thorough background checks, and demonstrate they qualify for a tourist visa or appropriate entry clearance.

For travellers from nations participating in the U.S. Visa Waiver Programme, including much of Europe, Japan, and Australia, a separate ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) remains valid for stays of up to 90 days and may be used instead of FIFA PASS.

Officials also stressed that the priority system will not weaken U.S. security standards, and applicants selected for FIFA PASS will still be vetted under normal procedures.

The U.S. State Department reportedly deployed additional consular staff to help manage the anticipated surge in visa demand in advance of the world’s largest sporting event.

Fans are encouraged to apply early and to follow instructions from FIFA and U.S. authorities to maximise their chances of securing a visa interview and entry in time for the tournament, which will be hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026
