‘Our Success Comes From Working Together,’ Says Oborevwori as Delta Assembly Marks 3 Years

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has attributed the significant achievements recorded in the state over the past three years to the cordial relationship between the Executive and Legislative arms of government.

Speaking at the 3rd Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of the 8th Delta State House of Assembly held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Unity Model Parish, Asaba, on Sunday, the governor said peace, progress, and development in the state had been driven by mutual understanding and collaboration between both arms of government.

Oborevwori commended Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, and members of the Assembly for their dedication, discipline, and commitment to good governance.

According to him, the Legislature’s support and constructive engagement have strengthened governance and enhanced the delivery of democratic dividends to Deltans.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to constitutional democracy, promising continued respect for the independence and responsibilities of the Legislature while providing leadership rooted in the fear of God.

Quoting Proverbs 3:5-6, Oborevwori said trust in God had remained the foundation of his administration’s successes and urged lawmakers to continue seeking divine guidance in their duties.

He also challenged legislators to intensify efforts at communicating government policies, programmes, and achievements to the grassroots, describing them as the vital link between government and the people.

The governor noted that development projects were being executed across all parts of the state through a broad-based budgeting framework that allows lawmakers to identify and address critical needs within their constituencies.

Earlier, Speaker Guwor said the thanksgiving service was organised to appreciate God for His faithfulness and guidance since the inauguration of the Eighth Assembly on June 13, 2023.

He stated that the Assembly had remained committed to purposeful lawmaking, effective oversight, and stakeholder engagement, resulting in the passage of several bills and resolutions aimed at promoting good governance, economic growth, and citizens’ welfare.

Guwor also praised the harmonious relationship among the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary, describing it as a key driver of Delta State’s stability and development.

Delivering a sermon titled “Wisdom for Excellent Service,” Pastor John Oyomah of RCCG Region 34, Asaba, stressed that leadership positions are divinely ordained and that success comes through God’s favour and wisdom.

The event attracted several dignitaries, including former governors James Ibori and Ifeanyi Okowa, top government officials, lawmakers, traditional rulers, and political stakeholders.
