Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has declared that his rise to fame was not fuelled by endorsements or industry backing, but by personal grit, faith, and fan loyalty.

The superstar made the remarks while celebrating a major career milestone, surpassing 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify for the first time.

The achievement comes on the heels of his fifth studio album, “5ive”, which has continued to dominate Afrobeats charts and attract global acclaim.

Reflecting on his journey, Davido highlighted the self-made nature of his success, contrasting his path with that of other artists who benefited early on from co-signs and industry connections.

“No co-sign, built from the ground up! Just God, good music and the best fans! I Appreciate you guys fr [for real]!” he wrote on his official X handle.

In a follow-up message, Davido quipped: “Who wan even CO-SIGN big man like me ?? Hmmm another angle sha.”

Davido’s latest project, “5ive”, released on April 18, 2025, features 17 tracks and has quickly become a standout success, racking up millions of streams and further cementing his influence in the Afrobeats scene.
