Davido-Inspired Afrobeat Cultural Festival Set for Asaba August 1
Asaba, the Delta State capital, is set to host the maiden edition of the Afrobeat Cultural Festival on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in a celebration aimed at promoting African culture, youth empowerment and the fight against drug abuse.
The festival, themed “Celebrating the Impact of Davido on African Music, Youth Culture and National Unity,” is being organised by Gateway to Better Life Foundation Inc. in collaboration with DASH Foundation Inc., USA, and the Davido International Supporters Group (DIS-G).
According to a statement jointly signed by Ambassador (Rev.) Chukwudi Eke, Convener, and Comrade Sam Ijeh, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, the event will take place at St. Patrick’s College, Nnebisi Road, Asaba, beginning at 12 noon.
The organisers said the festival is designed to leverage the influence of Afrobeat music and cultural heritage to address pressing social issues, particularly drug abuse and addiction among young people.
They explained that beyond entertainment, the event would serve as a platform to raise awareness on the dangers of substance abuse, advocate for healthier lifestyles and provide support for victims of drug addiction.
The festival will feature a wide range of activities, including a Davido Legacy Recognition Session, cultural parade, talent discovery, youth empowerment programmes, anti-drug awareness campaign, musical performances, community impact recognition and a free medical outreach.
A major highlight of the event will be the unveiling of the Davido Legacy Book, a publication documenting the Afrobeats superstar’s contributions to African music, youth development, empowerment and the global entertainment industry.
The organisers disclosed that participants from the 25 local government areas of Delta State and other parts of Nigeria are expected to attend the event.
