The Governor observed that most times, legislators were distracted from carrying out their functions of making laws due to demands from their constituents to engage in welfare programmes.

“Legislators are now distracted with most of them interested in welfare of their constituencies rather than making laws that will guide the government and the people,” the Governor said, emphasizing, “with the distraction, the primary focus of a legislator is lost.”

Governor Okowa also used the occasion to list some of the achievements of his administration and commended the former law makers for partnering with government to achieve desired results for the masses, stating that his administration will remain focused in delivering dividends of democracy to Deltans.
